Pokemon World Championships 2011 - San Diego

Pokémon Trading Card Game World Championships 2011
The Pokemon Company International is holding the Pokemon World Championships from Friday August twelfth to Sunday August fourteenth. The event is being held at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront in San Diego, California.

The Pokemon World Championships is an annual competition inviting players of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, and Pokemon Video Games, from over twenty different countries all around the world, to battle over who gets to be World Champion.

Players will be divided into three different age groups. Junior, Senior, and Master, which are basically; Kids, Teens, and Adults. To compete, players can either, receive an invite from doing well at a smaller national tournament, or they can enter a last chance qualifier that is being held on location of the Championship.

Aside from the Tournament, there are also going to be a few other things going on. There will be TCG side tournaments for those who are not competing in the championships. There will be a room where Pokemon movies will be shown all day long.

Tsunekazu Ishihara (President of The Pokemon Company), Junichi Masuda (Director of GAME FREAK inc.), and Shigeki Morimoto (game director at GAME FREAK inc.) will be signing autographs on the last day. And for all 3 days there will be a lot of people playing with Pokemon cards.

We will be posting coverage of the event here as it goes on, as well as posting some stuff from Worlds 2010. (Which I attended.) So keep your eyes on this blog, okay?
